Africa Environmental Watch (AEW) emerged as a strategic evolution of the Liberia Environmental Watch (LEW), Inc., which was established in 2004,
in direct response to the urgent environmental challenges facing Liberia in the aftermath of its 14-year civil war. In 2008, LEW transitioned into Africa Environmental.
Watch following a unanimous decision by the Board of Directors to broaden the organization’s mission and reach. This transition responded to numerous calls and petitions for a Pan-African umbrella organization capable of addressing environmental concerns across the continent.

Message from the Founder and President
"My deep commitment to environmental stewardship stems from the understanding that the environment is the cradle of all life. It is where we begin and where we return. The three essential pillars of life—water, air, and land—serve as the foundation of our very existence. When we care for the environment, we nourish our health, boost productivity, and extend the gift of longevity. But when we neglect it, we invite consequences that threaten our survival."
"I urge you to befriend the environment by embracing sustainability and by supporting Africa Environmental Watch’s Educational Awareness Movement. Together, we can protect our planet and secure a brighter, greener future."
